I believe in love and have faith in it: Shahid Kapoor

I believe in love and have faith in it: Shahid
Shahid Kapoor
Shahid Kapoor, who will be next seen in Kunal Kohli's love saga 'Teri Meri Kahani' has been linked to numerous Bollywood actresses including his co-star Priyanka Chopra, after his break-up with Kareena Kapoor.
But the actor feels that it is difficult to find a love story in real life. "Obviously I believe in love and have faith in it. I think love is the most beautiful thing in the world..it makes the world go round. I think everybody is eventually looking for love..but it is difficult to find one complete love story in real," Shahid told reporters.

"Through this film may be this is our way of escaping from reality and trying to show three different love stories and believing in romance. I think the most exciting thing in this movie is that there are three different love stories in it spread across three different generations. It is exciting to see how the journey of two lovers unfolds in three time spans - 1910, 1960 and 2012," he said.

The 31-year-old star was dating Kareena when they started filming for Ken Ghosh's 2004 filmFida. They were going steady until they separated during the making of Jab We Met in 2007.
Another strong buzz was about his alleged relationship with Priyanka Chopra. They met on the sets of Vishal Bhardwaj's Kaminey and had hit it off instantly. Their sizzling chemistry on reel was quite opposite to their on-an-off relationship, which seemed volatile.
Shahid was also linked to Vidya Balan during Kismet Connection. Whether this hook-up was for real or just a gimmick is not yet known. This was followed by alleged affairs with tennis sensation Sania Mirza Bipasha Basu, Anushka Sharma and the latest being Nargis Fakhri ofRockstar fame.
The only relationship that Shahid was quite open about was with Kareena.

This is my first Filmfare Awards. The studio is looking lovely. Ranbir and Vidya seem to be the absolute favourites this year. I guess they'll win the Best Actor Award: Chitrangada

I remember when I won the Best Supporting Actor award, and then immediately my name was called for Best Debut. I had one award in hand and was going on stage to pick up another. It was the most memorable moment for me. And I keep returning to Filmfare to bring back that memory: Vivek Oberoi

It's an exciting evening. If I win a Filmfare tonight, I'll score a hattrick. It's only on this evening every year, that meri niyat thodi kharab ho jati hai, because I plan to bring a lady home: Vidya Balan

I think Vidya has done a good job this year. Even Priyanka was fabulous. Actually they all were very good, so picking one is difficult: Madhuri Dixit

It's a tough job to be on the jury. I was on the Filmfare jury this year, and I'm not allowed to say much. But it's a very tough job!: Urmila Matondkar

It's tough to elect one person or one film from all those nominated. May the best talent win. We are looking forward to the evening: Sridevi

My beautiful wife is with my beautiful baby. I'm here alone. Honestly, I don't know the nominations too well. Is my Ma (Vidya Balan) nominated? Then I'll vote for her. Am I nominated? No? Then I don't think I'd root for anyone: Abhishek Bachchan

It's an exciting evening. All of us are here, that's a celebration in itself. If any one of us bags an award it'll be a double celebration or more than that: Javed Akhtar

"I don't know about competition. I think when you make a film you don't get time to watch other films. So I don't know with which films Rockstar is competing." His wife Preety is definitely rooting for Rockstar Ranbir Kapoor.

Rockstar has been nominated in several categories. I wish it wins every award possible. The music of Rockstar was widely accepted, that was a feather in my cap and an extremely important thing for me: AR Rahman

Pratiek Babbar is on red carpet and cheering for his contemporaries. "I want an actor of my generation to win. I want Ranbir to win".

I don't care much about Awards. All I'm interested in is doing good films: Kalki Koechlin

Parineeti Chopra is thrilled to win two nominations for her debut performance. She is nominated in the Supporting Actor (Female) and Debut (Female) categories for the same film 'Ladies vs Ricky Bahl'. "Winning a nomination for your debut film feels really great. What's more rewarding is to be nominated alongside Rani Mukherji in the Best Supporting Actress category", she says.

Prateik walks in with Amy Jackson

I want Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara to win Best Screenplay, Dialogue, Film, Director. That'll be a double whammy. And Zoya will ensure that I come with her for all the awards, for she considers me her lucky mascot, not that she needs one: Dia Mirza

It's exciting to be here with the cast and crew of znmd. I don't have any acceptance speech, just keeping fingers crossed: Zoya Akhtar

I'm looking forward to Shah Rukh and Ranbir Kapoor's hosting and some great performances. Delhi Belly, The Dirty Picture, and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara are my favourite films of 2011: Neha Dhupia

I'd like Vidya Balan to win for 'The Dirty Picture', Ranbir Kapoor to win for 'Rockstar', Imtiaz Ali to win best director and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara to bag the best film. Let the most deserving take home the black lady tonight: Kabir Bedi

I'm rooting for Vidya Balan for 'The Dirty Picture' and Ranbir Kapoor for 'Rockstar'. For music it has to be 'Ra.One': Sarah Jane Dais

"I'm exited, nervous... If I win I'll start screaming. I loved Vidya in The Dirty Picture. I'll be happy for her if she wins", says Mahie Gill

Priyanka Chopra makes an entry in a Ferragamo gown and though she is nominated in the Best Actor (Female) Category for '7 Khoon Maaf', she says her vote goes to Vidya Balan for 'The Dirty Picture'. She adds, "I will be performing a skit on 'Junglee billi ka swayamvar' and hope people take it in right spirit".

Agneepath - Movie Review

Agneepath: Movie Review
AgneepathMore Pics
Director: Karan Malhotra
Cast: Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt, Rishi Kapoor

Amongst the first recall values for the original Agneepath is Amitabh Bachchan's trademark self-introduction dialogue of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan. While evaluating its official remake, the first thing that crosses your mind is how the reinterpretation of this signature scene would be. Unlike in the original, the monologue plays pretty late in the remake, whereby it establishes Vijay's identity over merely introducing him and with such individuality and elegance that it pays a perfect homage to the original, while at the same time not blatantly imitating it. That is how a remake is supposed to be! Retaining the spirit of the original and having a soul of its own. This dialogue kinda summarizes the overall aura of the remake.

The basic backdrop remains the same. Kancha Cheena (Sanjay Dutt) is the uncrowned king of Mandwa Island and terminates the rebellious village schoolmaster. The master's son swears revenge and grows up to be Vijay Dinanath Chauhan (Hrithik Roshan) under the wings of Rauf Lala (Rishi Kapoor).
Lala who trades in human and drug trafficking, rules the Mumbai underbelly. Vijay uses Lala to reach Kancha and thereby reclaim his island and self-esteem.

While the primary plotline remains the same as Mukul Anand's classic, director Karan Malhotra along with co-writer Ila Bedi Datta refreshingly revamps the screenplay giving it a new structure and approach. So you never miss the omission of Mithun Chakravarthy's award-winning Krishnan Iyer from the original and welcome the induction of Rishi Kapoor's foul-mouthed and despicable kasai character. If at all the film falls into predictable zone, it's not because you are familiar with the original but because at the core of it, the story remains a basic revenge drama. The film employs the age-old conflict of a reformist school-teacher versus the conniving zamindar, duping the villagers of their lands.

The remake isn't essentially remodeled to modern times because the film retains its original era thereby reviving the raw essence of the 1990 film. And beyond the epoch, Malhotra also imparts the cinematic treatment of that time period to his film. So both the villain and hero have stylized entries, their confrontations boast of high-voltage drama and, in the climax, when the bruised and battered protagonist rises to take revenge (in exactly the same manner like his father was killed), he wins instant applause. Also the idea of Vijay concealing his identity from his teenaged sister is so intrinsic of the era (a la Anil Kapoor's Jeevan Ek Sanghursh).

Where the new Agneepath raises the bar is by casting Sanjay Dutt as the baddie. In his black-attire and bald-look, Dutt has such solid screen-presence that the director makes things difficult for himself with a challenge of how would Hrithik's hero overpower the villain. Thereby the film employs some extreme action, which is more brutal than boisterous, to justify Kancha's imposing persona and the subsequent seethe in Vijay's revenge. Thankfully, what putsAgneepath a notch above the recent mindless actioners is that it has a basic human connect which it reasonably balances with the extreme action and never blatantly exploits any emotion.

Piyush Mishra's dialogues are impressive with rhetoric punches every now and then. And even when the lines go unrefined for Rishi Kapoor's crude character, it leaves immense impact without crossing the familial domain. Cinematography by Ravi K Chandran and Kiran Deohans is remarkable. Akiv Ali's editing is accomplished and despite the film having a three-hour runtime, you never lose the narrative for a moment. The only slacker is the obligatory romance track (Priyanka Chopra) but thankfully even that is kept short. Ajay-Atul's music and esp. the background score are effective. Abbas Ali Moghul's action is raw and unrestrained.

Beyond his hold on the subject, Karan Malhotra succeeds in extracting inspiring performances from the impressive cast. The usually suave Hrithik Roshan convincingly glides into his coarse character here and has a towering presence. He completely redefines Vijay Dinanath Chauhan and never in his act do you see even a glimpse of the original. Sanjay Dutt reeks of menace and malice through his sadistic laughs. At times he overdoes his guffaws but therein lays his strength, which he uses to the hilt. Rishi Kapoor has never looked or played so mean onscreen before. As the kohl-eyed Rauf Lala, the affable actor reinvents his screen image with a beastly streak to his character. So good is the actor that you never get enough of him. Arish Bhiwandiwala as the young Vijay Chauhan puts in a confident act. Priyanka Chopra, Zarina and Om Puri are functional.

With Bollywood being obsessed with remakes in recent times, Agneepath is an important lesson on how to pay proper tribute to the original. Despite the original being his home production,Karan Johar attempts playing with fire (treading uncharted territory) with Agneepath and emerges victorious. Agneepath has the fire for a lustrous entertainer!

Verdict: Better than Good

Hrithik Roshan
All set to play the new-age Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, Hrithik tells Omar Qureshi the pressures of a remake, beating expectations, fighting health problems and prepping to 'save the world', superhero-style. Read on...

You're going to be the new-age Vijay Dinanath Chauhan. Are you nervous? Well, it's very different from the original character. My Vijay Dinanath Chauhan is a simple, common man. He's just Vijay. If you start comparing me with Mr Bachchan, I will fail at the word 'go'.

You had apparently rejected the film...Yes. I didn't want to do a remake. I wanted to do films that have not been done before. But KJo was insistent. I was almost forced into the film, made to hear the script and once I read it, I was blown away.

Sanju's look is getting a lot of rave reviews... He's done a fantastic job in the film. In some scenes, he looked so menacing and his acting was so natural that it threw me off my game. His Kancha Cheena was intimidating, so I decided to up my game.

We hear Priyanka and you have sizzling chemistry in the film... I think this film is Priyanka's best work so far. It's her career's best.

What's happening on the superhero front? My health is stabilising, so we'll be able to start with my schedule. The Krrish sequel has been postponed for over two years. I was advised not to get into the stunts but I can't delay it anymore.

And there was a lot of hype around Kangana's role... Well yeah, it was originally offered to her. She didn't find it lucrative, so we approached a host of actresses. Somehow, we went back to Kangana after finishing the script and she loved the role. It was written with her in mind.

You've won a lot of tags... Sexiest Man, Most Desirable Star, etc I'm very humbled, but a lot of hard work goes into these so-called 'tags'. When I was suffering from a slipped disc, I won the title of 'Most Desirable', but was binging on cupcakes and brownies. My waist size was 36 inches and I could barely fit into my Krrish jacket. I worked on my body really hard and got back in shape before being declared the sexiest man.

Hrithik has grown to be a fine actor: Sanjay Dutt

Sanjay Dutt
Sanjay Dutt recounts his experience of getting into the skin of his latest character, who is evil personified

When Kancha Cheena leers at the camera in Karan Malhotra's Agneepath, the impact is so immediate that one recoils in horror. The actor talks to BT about the film and why Kancha is the one character that has him spooked.

What was your first reaction when offered the role of Kancha Cheena? Karan Johar(Agneepath's producer) came to meet me. He told me the role was a negative one. He added that he hadn't worked with me all these years as he couldn't offer me anything substantial. But he said Kancha Cheena was such a role. But it was when Karan Malhotra came and narrated the script that I was blown away by it. It was phenomenal!

What drew you to such a dark role? I loved the character. Kancha Cheena is so complex, crazy, dark, unpredictable and larger-than-life. I was an anti-hero in Khalnayak but this guy was something out of this world! I have never seen or played a character so dark and evil. Yet though Kancha is a very dark character, his lines are very funny!

Are you aware that with your portrayal of Kancha you have brought back the era of strong villains back into Hindi films? If I have done that, it is because of Karan Malhotra! He was very clear about what he wanted from the character. He had sketches of Kancha right from his look to the way he walked and talked. I found Kancha extremely challenging as I haven't ever done something so dark before. I am not like him. The other day when I was dubbing for Kancha for the climax, halfway through, I asked the director to just stop! When he asked why, I said I couldn't bear it anymore and needed to go for a smoke, soothe my nerves and then start dubbing again. I had to stop dubbing for half an hour as I couldn't bear to see myself as someone so wicked, evil and crazy. After the dubbing, I called Maanayata and told her I can't believe it's me doing that!

How do you see the new Agneepath? I have seen the original film but Karan (Malhotra) has totally changed the new one around.

How was it working with Karan Johar for the first time? He's exactly like his father. Karan's large-heartedness, his passion to make films and the way he wants everything perfect for the cast and crew- from the food to the accommodations - reminds me of his dad. It felt like I was working in Gumraah again. One thing that Karan didn't do was make tea like his dad used to do. Every morning, Yash uncle would make tea for Sridevi, me and the rest of us and come to our rooms with it.

What do you think is Karan Malhotra's strength? For a producer like Karan Johar to give him a platform like Agneepath shows that the producer saw some potential. Karan Malhotra is most focused and knows exactly what he wants. He made life easy for me as an actor. Agneepath is his vision. If Karan didn't agree with what we said, he just didn't agree. I respect that.

How was it working with Hrithik again after Mission Kashmir? Then, I could see that nervousness in him. Today, Hrithik has grown to be a fine actor. It was a pleasure working with him in Agneepath.

Shahid Kapoor says Sonam Kapoor is very special

At a recent Colgate Maxfresh party, Shahid Kapoor praised his Mausam co-star Sonam Kapoor and termed her sweet and innocent. Shahid also said that Sonam was a very special person as far as he was concerned.

Shahid Kapoor has in the past, especially during the shoot of Pankaj Kapoor"s Mausam been linked to Sonam Kapoor. A lot was written about the romantic link up between the two. It was being said that Shahid Kapoor had a soft corner for Sonam and was in love with her. So it came as a surprise when Shahid said at a recent Colgate Maxfresh party that she was very 'special". Shahid said, “I think Sonam is a wonderful looking girl and she looks very simple and innocent. I think she is always a special actress because I did Mausam with her which was special to me."

Shahid Kapoor also praised Sonam"s look in her upcoming film Players, and said she looked wonderful.

Sonam Kapoor shows middle finger to censor board?

Having started off her career as a shy and demure lass, playing girl-next-door roles, Sonam Kapoor has undergone a complete transformation for her upcoming film Players, by going blunt and showing her middle finger.

Speaking about showing her middle finger in her upcoming film Players, Sonam Kapoor told PTI, “I don't believe in censorship so whether they like it or not, I really don't care about it. I just want people to come and see my film. Showing a middle finger is a part of today's youth.”

Sonam Kapoor added, “I think it is part of our language...it is part of your lingo. We abuse when we have a normal conversation with our friends. I don't believe anything should be censored it is crazy, especially when it comes to art, films...especially when you live in India where freedom of speech and expression is our basic right.”

To clear her point, Sonam Kapoor said that worse things are available on the internet. We must hence apply censorship on them too.

Initially, the Censor board had given a green signal to the act, but later on, they decided to censor it.
"I think it is double standards and being hypocritical. Its like oh my god she did this. I am just saying it is a normal thing, when I started doing it I never thought of it. When guys would bother me while I was in college, I used to flip my finger. I think it is like a normal lingo,” the 26-year-old said.

Sonam plays an outspoken, blunt hacker in the Abbas-Mustan action-thriller, a remake of Hollywood film, The Italian Job. The film also stars, Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Bobby Deol, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Omi Vaidya, and releases on January 6, 2012.

Players and Dhoom are two different films: Abhishek Bachchan

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan says that his upcoming film Players, which is an official remake of 2003 Hollywood film The Italian Job, is much different from action thriller Dhoom as director duo Abbas-Mustan have given a different twist to its script.

Talking to PTI reporter in Bangalore, Abhishek Bachchan said, "Players and Dhoom are two different films - Dhoom was on cops-robbers face-off and all the main characters in Players are thieves.

However, the genre of both the films is the same. Both films are action-thrillers, but director-duo Abbas-Mustan have given a different treatment to Players."

Apart from Abhishek, Players boasts of big names such as Bobby Deol, Bipasha Basu, Sonam Kapoor and Neil Nitin Mukesh. The entire star cast had undergone physical training to atone the body to the requirement of the roles they were playing. Most of the stunts have been done by the artists themselves.

Besides, Deol and Basu's characters were completely new, which the Hollywood film did not have. Though initially it was planned as a Diwali release, it had been delayed since they realised it would take more time to complete the film as the story demanded extensive filming of action scenes, Abhishek said. "Therefore we decided on a January 6 release," he added.

Sonam Kapoor slams Shahid Kapoor's Mausam

Sonam Kapoor, who is known for her fashion sense and her outspoken attitude recently said thatMausam is not a film that young kids would watch.

While shooting for Pankaj Kapoor's Mausam, rumours of differences of opinion between Sonam Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor kept making the rounds. However, the two tried to be as amicable as possible during the making and the promotion of the film.

However, now that the film is out, Sonam has decided to be more vocal about her opinion. Speaking to a film magazine, Sonam Kapoor said that the pacing of the film Mausam was the biggest drawback. Sonam said, “I think the pacing ofMausam was its biggest flaw. It wasn't something young kids would like to watch.”

Well, Sonam Kapoor spoke her mind out as usual. Wonder how Shahid Kapoor would react to this?

Watch your steps girl!

Shahid Kapoor saves ex-girlfriend Priyanka Chopra's life

Actress Priyanka Chopra, who had a break-up with boyfriend cum co-actor Shahid Kapoor, finally realises the worth of true love. In a recent life-risking incident, Shahid proved to be Priyanka's true, real life hero after he saved his ex-flame from getting mobbed.

It all happened when Shahid and Priyanka were shooting for Kunal Kohli's Teri Meri Kahaani in Aurangabad. A source informed NDTV that there were about a crowd of 8,000 to 10,000 people on the sets.

“On the day we shot at Daulatabad Fort, over 30,000 people bought tickets to visit the place. On the last day we were shooting at the lake, which was surrounded by hills. Two of those were completely filled with people. It was madness. Some people tried to get too close to Priyanka and that's when Shahid came forward and took her aside,” the source said.

However Kunal denies that a near-stampede took place, "No, that's not true. There were no untoward incidents. Fortunately, we had the support of the local police and we had our own security. We definitely had to tighten the security to manage the crowds."

Neelam spreads rumours about Shahrukh Khan-Priyanka Chopra affair?

Rumours are rife that actress Neelam Kothari is responsible for spreading rumours about the alleged affair between Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra.

If sources are to be believed, Priyanka Chopra is very upset with the news of her alleged love affair with Shahrukh Khan, whom she respects and admires immensely. The buzz also states that Shahrukh's wife, Gauri Khan is very upset with Priyanka Chopra for trying to be too close to her husband.

Priyanka Chopra has apparently learnt that all these false rumours are being spread by Neelam Kothari, who is also a good friend of Gauri. Priyanka's friends, with whom she had discussed about this news went and informed Neelam. Neelam reportedly called Priyanka to clear the misunderstanding. But PC lashed back at Neelam after which the fight became ugly.
However, when Neelam was asked about it by the media, she denied the entire episode saying that Gauri is a good friend and she would never spread such rumours about her hubby. Moreover, Neelam also added that she shares a good relationship with Priyanka Chopra. Priyanka's publicist also denied any such happening.

Well, if there is no truth to this rumour, wonder why Neelam was dragged into this in the first place!
